I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity. ~ Edgar Poe

Me and Alice

The Nightmare continues...

What is that quote I read somewhere, about having struggled with sanity for 27 years and finally having won out over it? I can't recall it exactly, but that's me. I've been through so many damn mix-ups regarding my Alice Cooper illustrations it really is insane....but here's where it all has ended up: a new gallery for the Coop, with more portrayals to come, and a newfound hope for creatively expressing the strange and wondrous worlds that the Showmaster can take us to.

Alice has always been my hero; I mean for years and years. Yes, I guess I just love him to death. He continues to be a great source of artistic inspiration to me... Though I found his decision with religion to be difficult to swallow (for me, similar to when Mick Jagger was knighted- "some fans were disappointed ... as it seemed to contradict his anti-establishment stance"), true artistic calling won out in the end, and so here we are.

Alice is both the victim and the villain, the seducer and saviour; sexy and dangerous, he seemed to shift among these roles with unparalleled ease. This is a fascinating phenomenon defintely worthy of further exploration...or maybe I am just looney. This is, after all, "The Diary of a Mad Painter". BUT either way, the Cooper artwork will keep coming, and it will be fun and dramatic. So there!

Caught in a Dream...

A little bit about these images:
Constrictor Redux

As with all my art subjects, my Alice Cooper interpretations are hand-drawn and traditionally painted, no digital photo manipulation or anything. Just old fashioned realism/surrealism, meticulously detailed by hand. Every piece you see here represents weeks of work, sometimes months. Also like my other subjects, this is a definite labor of love. Please enjoy and feel free to contact me if you have any comments or questions.
